2016-17 NORTH JERSEY H.S. BOWLING REPORT

PASCACK VALLEY’S TOM SMITH 725, WEST MILFORD’S ANDREW FINKE 671, CLIFTON’S JOHANN GAMO 660 SHARE BIG NORTH’S CENTER STAGE

12/16/16 – Pascack Valley is determined to be among the top five ranked teams when the Record revises its pre-season favorites. Coach Judy Lucia’s Indians weren’t one of the top ten and then went on to capture the Crusader Classic and the Big North National Division pre-season tournament. This writer thinks by now that the North Jersey coaches have gotten the message: Pascack Valley is a force to be reckoned with this season. Yesterday, senior Tom Smith, a 184 average kegler last year, continued his better than 200/game output with a scorching triple deuce 725 [257-244-224]; junior Henry Tipping, sophomore Brian Biml and newcomer Trevor Lauber  contributed impressively as well with respective scores of 253, 257-204 and 210, fueling an offense that carried them past an outmatched Bergenfield squad, 7-0.

West Milford senior Andrew Finke has little room on his school jacket for all the letters he earns during the season; in the winter, he excels in basketball and bowling; regarding the latter, Andrew is currently fourth in the BNC, carrying a 223.7 mark after smashing 671 [244-215-212] in the Highlanders’ sweep of Teaneck. The third young talent on center stage is Clifton sophomore Johann Gamo, averaging 214.8 in the Big North when the smoke cleared on his blazing 660 [246-213-201]; coupled with his “dynamic duo” teammate Joe Paolillo’s [202.5 avg] 205-202, the pair delivered big time in the Mustangs’ shutout of Passaic.

Other BNC results: Dumont senior Kyle Schellberg tallied 204-202: 601 in the Huskies’ 5-2 setback at the hands of Ridgefield Park; leading the Scarlets was junior Derek Lewandowski’s 200 single. Bergen Tech sophomore Walt Wargacki posted a 223 to lead the Knights past PCTI, 5-2. Senior Antonio Sirianni shot 214-201 in St Joseph Regional’s 4-3 victory over Lakeland; Senior Dan Hecker was high for the Lancers with 215. Rounding out BNC boys’ action was Northern Highlands’ sweep of Paramus; senior Emily Mamunes, rolling with the boys this year, posted 219 for the Highlanders to raise her average to 190.2.

In the girls’ competition, freshman Margaux Lesser lifted her average to 185.3 with a 238 single in Crusader Classic champion Teaneck’s 7-0 triumph over Ramsey. North Jersey Singles winner Gabby Pangaro fashioned 227-203 for Clifton in its win over Passaic. Bergen Tech took seven points from PCTI.

  1. Rita says:

For your records, in the future Brian Biml from Pascack Valley High School last name is spelled BIML, not Bimi. He also had a 257, not 250 this week against Bergenfield. Thanks so much!
